Peugeot 3008 Wears An Off Road Suit For Vietnam Adventure

Peugeot prepared a special version of the 3008 to tackle an off-road adventure at the iconic Ho Chi Minh trail in Vietnam.

The one-off version of the popular Peugeot SUV was taken there by UK’s Top Gear magazine, in a bid to find out if the brand’s Advanced Grip Control technology could do the job as well as all-wheel drive, which the 3008 lacks.

The special 3008 is based on a 1.6-litre PureTech GT Line model and features a range of subtle enhancements, including a set of 17-inch steel wheels shod with Cooper AT3 off-road tires, a front skid plate, a Rival aluminum roof rack with an LED light bar and a fully retractable ARB Simpson roof tent. Other features include a bike rack, as well as a unique wrap to mark the one-off character of this specific Peugeot 3008.

“This one-off model exemplifies the practicality and off-road ability of our best-selling SUV,” said David Peel, Peugeot UK’s Managing Director. “With relatively minor modifications, the 3008 has tackled some tough terrain, proving the effectiveness of its Advanced Grip Control technology and demonstrating its true outdoor potential.”

Peugeot’s Advanced Grip Control is a sophisticated traction control system, offering five different modes depending on the road surface: Normal, Snow, Mud, Sand and ESP Off. In combination with the Hill Assist Descent, Peugeot says that the 3008 can offer “a genuine off-road capability”, despite the fact that there’s no traditional AWD.

The only model in the 3008 range that’s technically all-wheel drive is the Hybrid4, which has an electrically-driven rear axle and a combined output of 296 HP (300 PS).
