The Lamborghini Huracan Evo turned out to be only half a second slower than the Porsche 918 Spyder at the Hockenheim GP circuit.
While that might sound nigh impossible, the truth is that the Italian supercar was unofficially put through its paces by SportAuto’s Christian Gebhardt, who drove it across the finish line in an outstanding 1:49.00.
By taking a look at some of the lap times at the track we saw that it was one tenth of a second faster than the 911 GT2 RS, which destroyed the Nurburgring record of the Huracan Performante a couple of years ago, holding on to it until last summer, when it was reclaimed by the Aventador SVJ. Also, the Evo was 1.5 seconds faster at Hockenheim than the Mercedes-AMG GT R.

The unofficial run against the clock was filmed from the cockpit. The video was posted online and is shared at the bottom of the page, but bear with us a bit longer to go through some of the specs of the Italian supercar, which is neck-snapping fast. The naught to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) is done in 2.9 seconds in the Coupe, which tops out at over 325 km/h (202 mph). The Spyder has an almost identical top speed, but due to the extra reinforcements, it’s 0.2 seconds slower to 100 km/h (62 mph).
Both versions of the Huracan Evo have as much as 640 PS (631 hp / 470 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque available via the throttle. The 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine is connected to the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
