Kia Unveils 2020 Mohave In Korea, Launch Set For Next Month

Kia has pulled the cover off the new generation Mohave in its homeland. Previewed by the Mohave Masterpiece Concept at the 2019 Seoul Motor Show, it will launch locally in September.

Compared to the study presented earlier this year, the Mohave Master has a slightly toned down exterior design. Changes revolve around the grille, front bumper and fog lamps, as well as the side mirror caps, side steps, taillights and tailgate.

You might have noticed that there are no visible Kia badges on the outside; then again, its predecessor didn’t have Kia logos either, so it’s no surprise, really.

No images of the interior or technical details have been released at the time of writing. However, it does have all-wheel drive, as pointed out by the tailgate badge, as well as a 3.0-liter V6. The latter is expected to be a diesel, producing 260 PS (256 hp / 191 kW) and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque, probably matched to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

In North America, the previous-gen Mohave used to be marketed as the Borrego. It was discontinued in 2009, due to poor sales, and was replaced by the Sorento. In the meantime, Kia launched the Telluride, a 3-row mid-size SUV with up to 8 seats, so we’ll just have to be wait and see whether the all-new Mohave will be making its way Stateside.
