Jeremy Clarkson Says The Lexus LFA Is Still The Best Car He's Ever Driven

Jeremy Clarkson has driven most of the finest automobiles produced over the last couple of decades, but to the British journalist, there is one which stands above them all; the Lexus LFA.

Clarkson has expressed his love for the LFA on previous occasions and in this new video from Drive Tribe, explains how the car’s iconic 4.8-liter naturally-aspirated V10 makes it unlike any other road-going production car.

According to Clarkson, the LFA’s seatbelts were finicky and its fuel tank was too small but the V10 engine made up for all the other shortcomings. As most readers will know, the LFA’s V10 screams in a truly mesmerizing way and alongside the Porsche Carrera GT and Pagani Zonda, is frequently named one of the best-sounding cars ever.

While writing about the Lexus LFA after Top Gear’s famous road trip with it, a Dodge Viper, and an Aston Martin Vanquish, Clarkson perfectly described the car’s evocative soundtrack.

“At high revs, it sounds like a million bonfire-night sparklers, amplified through AC/DC’s mixing desk and fired into the face of whoever it was you just overtook. It crackles. And then, when you think it can’t rev any more, the crackle turns into a baleful howl. It’s time to pull on the paddle, feel the clonk and settle back in the exquisite seat, ready for it to start all over again.”

The Grand Tour host has also said in the past that if he was offered “the choice of any car that had ever been made ever, I would like a dark blue Lexus LFA.”
