How Guy Sebastian has transformed a street in Maroubra with his $3.1m mansion

PICTURE EXCLUSIVE: How Guy Sebastian completely transformed a quiet Sydney street after knocking down his modest home to build a $3.1million ultra-modern 'fortress'

Guy Sebastian finally moved into his mega-mansion in Maroubra in June, after a controversial two-and-a-half year knockdown and rebuild renovation.

And following a string of complaints from locals, the real extent of how the singer, 37, has completely transformed the affluent street is now apparent.

Unearthed archived pictures reveal the concrete haven is a far cry from the modest family home that once blended in among the neighbouring properties.

One archived picture, taken in early 2014, showed the house in its simple and low-key former state on the quiet street.

With a double garage and privet hedge, the abode once looked like any other you'd find in the suburb and could be described as anything but eye-catching.

Another archived picture, taken in October 2017, then showed the block of land bare, after knocking down the previous home ready for the re-build.

And now in new pictures, taken on Thursday, the finished renovation is seen towering over the simple one-floor abode next door.

Not just this, but due to the sheer size of the innovative design, it can be seen from considerably further up the street, in both directions.

In December, Guy defended the renovation, telling KIIS FM: 'It's a long build, but it's a pretty special house. It's not normal. It's not a cookie-cutter house, it's cool.'

The Voice Australia coach purchased the $3.1million house in 2013, and then spent two-and-a-half years renovating.

In June, he finally moved in with wife Jules and their two children.

They have since welcomed features on their striking interior in both glossy magazines and on the television.
