'It was a joke!' Eliminated Bachelor contestant Julia Hyde defends 'villain' Monique Morley after she dropped the C-bomb and called Matt Agnew a 'pig'

Bachelor fans were shocked when Matt Agnew chose Monique Morley over Julia Hyde during Wednesday night's rose ceremony.

Monique was accused of previously calling Matt a 'dog c***' and a 'disrespectful pig', but in a rather surprising twist, it was children's entertainer Julia who was given the boot.

Speaking to Ten Daily after the show, Julia surprisingly defended her 'friend' Monique, saying her comments were taken out of context by Abbie Chatfield.

'Apparently it was a conversation - the girls were by the pool while everyone was tanning and just making jokes,' Julia explained.

'Some of us talk silly sometimes, like with accents and things like that. So I think the comment that Mon made was taken out of context, because it was like a joke.'

Julia then slammed Abbie for telling Matt, seeing as the joke was part of a private conversation.

'I think as women, we should always support each other, encourage each other and lift each other up,' Julia said.

Julia did not have much airtime and the only drama she was involved in was being knocked over by Mary Viturino during a footy game between the 'old and new' girls.

But on Wednesday night's episode, it boiled down to Monique and Julia with just one rose left for Matt to give.

Matt walked out of the rose ceremony before walking back in to give the final rose to the blonde bombshell.

Julia gracefully departed The Bachelor, immediately giving Monique a hug before saying goodbye to Matt.

Her last words were: 'Thank you Matt, all the very best. See you later.'
