Good things come to those who wait – and that seems to be BMW’s motto for the development of the new-gen M3, as the car has been undergoing testing at the track for quite some time now. And will continue to do so perhaps for another year, as it should be presented in mid-2020.
During this time, engineers will fine-tune every characteristic, making it quicker on all levels than its predecessor. Turning it into a dream ride for enthusiasts and a true rival to the likes of the Mercedes-AMG C63 is a comprehensive task, one that requires extensive testing and fine-tuning, and it was one of those sessions that gave us yet another video of the sports sedan in action.

Shot at the Nurburgring, the clip offers a good opportunity to see what the new M3 can do with one of the company’s test drivers behind the wheel. As for the visual part of the car, the camouflage continues to prevent us from seeing its design details. Nonetheless, a reworked front bumper with larger air intakes, quad exhaust pipes incorporated into the diffuser, lower ground clearance and larger wheels will be its defining features.
The 2021 M3 will be offered in two variants, both powered by a 3.0-liter, twin-turbo straight-six. The “normal” model will get 480 PS (473 hp / 335 kW), whereas the Competition will be 30 PS (30 hp / 22 kW) more powerful.
The rumor mill says that both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive versions of the car will be offered, while purists will be glad to know that a six-speed manual transmission will be offered alongside the seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic, as confirmed recently by BMW M boss, Markus Flasch, himself.
