Jamie Foxx spoke about encouraging Cameron Diaz to return to the screen during an interview with Entertainment Tonight this week.
During the sit-down, the 54-year-old performer expressed his excitement about being able to work with his 49-year-old costar, and he revealed how he convinced her to take up acting again.
The Charlie's Angels star previously announced that she was retiring from acting four years ago.

Foxx began the interview by expressing that he greatly admired Diaz and the success she achieved over the course of her career.
'Cameron is such an incredible force and she has done so much in this business. We love her,' he stated.
The Django Unchained star went on to note that he posed a simple question to the actress during the negotiation process.
He recalled asking her: ''Do you wanna have some fun? Just have some fun!' And I think that's what brought her to it.'

Foxx subsequently stated that he viewed Diaz's return to acting as particularly significant.
'We miss special moments sometimes, in our business, and I think this is a special moment. So we're so happy that it's happening and looking forward to it,' he said.
The Academy Award–winning performer did point out, however, that he had to be creative in the manner by which he coaxed the actress back to her old career.
'We had to be very innovative in how we, you know, brought her back,' he stated.

Foxx and Diaz are currently set to costar in the forthcoming action comedy feature Back In Action.
Development on the forthcoming feature was initially revealed to the public this past June.
The movie will be directed by Seth Gordon, who co-wrote its script with Brendan O'Brien, and the Ray star will produce the feature.
Plot details about the forthcoming feature are currently being withheld, and production is set to start later this year.

Foxx announced that Diaz would be featured in the movie with a video that was shared to his Instagram account this past June.
In the clip, the pair had a conversation about potentially bringing the latter back to the screen, before the former invited Tom Brady to give her 'a few tips on how to un-retire.'
In his post's caption, the actor wrote that he 'had to call in the GOAT to bring back another GOAT.'
Back In Action is currently set to premiere on the Netflix streaming service at an unspecified date in the future.
