Reading and Leeds Festival organisers have been left scrambling following the news  that both Jack Harlow and Måneskin have cancelled their appearances at next week's festivities.

American rapper Jack, 24, and the Italian rock band both pulled out of the annual event to instead appear at the MTV Video Music Awards in New Jersey, leaving festival bosses 'saddened by the decision'.

And while Måneskin made the announcement earlier this month, it wasn't until Monday evening that Jack confirmed he would not be performing at Sunday's gig.

Both acts were due to take to the stage alongside Megan The Stallion, The Artic Monkeys, The 1975 and Wolf Alice, leaving organisers struggling to find a last minute replacement.

In a statement the Leeds and Reading Festival said: 'We are saddened to hear that Jack Harlow and Måneskin have decided to perform at an award show the same weekend they were confirmed to play Reading and Leeds'.

They added: 'We are working on some exciting replacements to join Arctic Monkeys, Dave, Bring Me The Horizon, The 1975, Halsey, Megan Thee Stallion, D-Block Europe, PinkPantheress, Joy Crookes, Fontaines DC, Bastille, Willow, Wolf Alice, Glass Animals, Hybrid Minds and many others at Reading & Leeds Festivals this August Bank Holiday weekend, watch this space!'.

MailOnline have contacted reps for Jack Harlow, Måneskin and Reading and Leeds Festival for further comment.

Italian band Måneskin released a statement earlier this month writing: 'We are sad to announce that unfortunately due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts, we are no longer able to perform at Readings & Leeds festival this year.

'We love and miss the UK and all of our beloved UK fans and we're absolutely gutted to no longer be able to play these shows.'

They concluded by saying: 'We're really excited for the year to come and want to thank you for your support and patience, we'll hopefully be back in the UK soon and we can't wait to see you.'

It comes after fans were left outraged by Festival headliners Rage Against The Machine when they said they too would not perform.

The band said they would not attend the festival as planned as they cancelled their 2022 European tour dates citing medical advice. This also includes their planned performance at Leeds Festival.

Rage Against The Machine, best known for their songs Killing In the Name and Bulls on Parade will be replaced by pop band The 1975.

Lead singer Zack de la Rocha said he will rest at home after the group played their gig at Madison Square Garden, New York on August 14.

Fans expressed their frustration at the cancellation at Reading Festival, with some asking for their money back.

One said on Twitter: 'Replacing Rage Against The Machine With 1975 is like swapping Slayer with S Club 7.'

Another suggested a large number of festival tickets would be refunded because of the news, saying: 'There will be hundreds for sale from disappointed RATM fans.'

One fan expressed their disappointment by adding: 'Boooooo'

Writing a message to Ticketmaster, a festivalgoer asked for a refund following the band's cancellation. They said: 'I have a Sunday ticket to Reading Festival and would like to request a refund, as the main headliner Rage Against The Machine has cancelled and will not be performing. I would appreciate some help.'
