The Bachelor betting guide: Why Chelsie is the bookies' favourite despite Elly getting the 'golden ticket' - and how getting the first kiss means that Sogand is unlikely to win

TAB has released its first Bachelor betting guide for 2019, and the odds show there is a clear front-runner to win astrophysicist Matt Agnew's heart.

Chemical engineer Chelsie McLeod is the current favourite with $1.10 odds, despite other contestants, like Elly Miles, being more obvious choices.

Nurse Elly scored the Golden Ticket on Wednesday's episode, giving her a free pass to the hometown dates, but she only has odds of $6.

So why are Chelsie's odds so short?

Eagle-eyed viewers are speculating that Chelsie may already be Matt's winning girl after the first cocktail party of the season.

Fans noted that the 'winner's music' played in the background as Chelsie, 28, spoke with Matt, 32, during the season premiere.

TAB rival, Sportsbet, also has her tipped to win The Bachelor, at $1.44 odds.

Chelsie has featured prominently in promos for the reality show, which is another sign she make it all the way to the finale.

Coming from a science background, she also has a lot in common with Matt. During their first meeting, she even applied a temporary tattoo over his heart of the 'love chemical' oxytocin.

Done deal? Eagle-eyed observers are speculating that Chelsie (pictured) may already be Matt's pick after the first cocktail party of the season. Bachelor viewers took note of the fact that the winner's music played as Chelsie, 28, started chatting to Matt

'Chelsie has left a lasting impression. I don't just mean the temporary tattoo. There was a lot of chemistry there in every way,' Matt said on the show.

While Sogand Mohtat, 30, got the first single date - and the first kiss - of the season, TAB has given her $34 odds, meaning she is highly unlikely to win.

Matt took civil engineer Sogand on a scenic helicopter ride before surprising her with a private musical performance by a string quartet.

Landing the first kiss of the season is usually an indicator that a contestant won't win.

Behind Chelsie and Elly, other women to watch out for are Kristen Czyszek ($11 odds), Helena Sauzier ($11) and Abbie Chatfield ($7).

The Bachelor Australia continues Wednesday at 7.30pm on Channel 10

Pick me! Chelsie and Elly are of course not without fierce competition - 'China researcher' Kristen Czyszek (pictured), 24, has odds of $11 to win, as does Helena Sauzier, 25
