The Bachelor BEATS Channel Nine's The Block in a rare ratings victory - as viewers are captivated by the dating show's C-bomb scandal

The Bachelor's C-bomb scandal helped the dating show beat The Block in the ratings on Wednesday night.

According to OzTam's overnight metro figures, The Bachelor pulled in 783,000 viewers compared to 765,000 who watched The Block.

The Bachelor only rarely beats Channel Nine's home renovation show, which used to regularly attract more than a million metro viewers per episode.

Furthermore, around twice as many people streamed The Bachelor on 10 Play as watched The Block on 9Now.

The Bachelor's fourth episode managed to get 171,000 streams, compared to The Block's 84,000 streams.

It's possible that The Block's ratings have suffered this season due to the ages of the participants, none of whom are under 30.

The Channel 10 reality show is currently being rocked by a scandal involving a contestant who allegedly called Matt Agnew a 'dog c**t'.

Wednesday night's episode saw chaos erupt when Abbie Chatfield told Matt that Monique had called him a 'dog c**t' and 'disrespectful pig' behind his back.

Matt pulled Monique aside and confronted her about what was supposedly said, but the 26-year-old lingerie denied ever insulting him.

'I would never, ever say that,' Monique insisted. 'I'm very vocal in how I feel... I don't like to cause drama.'

Matt told Kyle and Jackie O on Wednesday that the C-word incident will continue into the next episode, saying: 'Buckle up, things are still unfinished!'

The Bachelor Australia continues Thursday at 7:30pm on Channel 10
