Pricing details for the A 35 4Matic hatchback and sedan models have been announced by Mercedes for the Australian market.

Local buyers looking to get behind the wheel of the Mercedes rival to the Audi S3 will need to part ways with at least $67,200 for the hatchback and $69,800 for the sedan. These prices exclude dealer delivery fees and all on-road costs such as registration fees and stamp duty. Showroom deliveries of the A 35 hatch will start next month, while the first sedans are scheduled to arrive in October.

Aussie customers who want something a little more unique than the ‘regular’ A 35 4Matic hatch can opt for the Edition 1 that is painted Denim Blue metallic and includes gold accents, an AMG aero package and AMG multi-spoke 19-inch wheels. The A 35 4Matic hatch Edition 1 also comes fitted with Black and Magma Grey upholstery, polished aluminum trim, and AMG Performance Seats. In both cases, opting for the Edition 1 package adds $6,990 to the sticker price.

Sitting under the hood of the Mercedes-AMG A 35 is a 2.0-liter turbo four with 301 HP and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive. The car sprints to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.7 seconds and tops out at an electronically limited 155 mph (250 km/h).

Both versions offer the same performance, so it’s a matter of personal choice and whether you need the extra boot space. We’d probably go for the Sedan, as its shape looks a bit more resolved to our eyes, but that’s just us.
