They are two of the most well-regarded actresses currently working in Hollywood, and they were on hand to celebrate the new film they starred in together.

Julianne Moore and Michelle Williams signed autographs and waved to onlookers outside a New York City theater on Monday night that was screening the film After The Wedding, directed by Moore's husband Bart Freundlich.

The actresses, who were born 20 years apart, wore similar shades of dark blue to the event, ahead of the film's August 9 release.

Moore, 58, was dressed in a charming long-sleeved dress with an embroidered pattern, that came down to just above her knee.

The Oscar-winning redhead paired the navy dress with pointy black ankle boots, and she wore a bold shade of red on her lips.

Williams, 38, also had on a navy dress that came to just above the knee, but Michelle's dress had a more mod feel with caped sleeves, a zipper front and black detailing on the pockets and belt.

She wore her blond bob short and sleek, and was wearing killer LV boots in a matching shade of blue with the Vuitton logo all over the heels.

Their dramatic film After The Wedding tells the story of a woman (Williams) who has devoted her life to running an orphanage in India, who is called to New York to meet the millionaire benefactor (Moore) who wants to donate a fortune to her cause.

Unexpected connections are made, secrets are unearthed, and the reasoning behind the donation is not as simple as it seems.

The film fits nicely into both actresses' respective bodies of work, as each of them have been recognized for acting in similar dramatic fare in the past.

Julianne, who has been a Hollywood fixture since she first turned heads in 1992's The Hand That Rocks The Cradle, won an Oscar in 2014 for her lead role in Still Alice, about a woman battling early-onset Alzheimer's disease.

It was her fourth time being nominated.

Williams, who got her start on the nighttime teen soap Dawson's Creek in the late '90s, has also been nominated for four Academy Awards, but has yet to win a statuette.

She did, however, win a TCA award over the weekend for Individual Achievement in Drama for her work on Fosse/Verdon.

Apart from After The Wedding, Michelle has five other projects in the works, including a Janis Joplin biopic in which she will play Joplin, as well as a movie called The Challenger, about Christa McAuliffe.

Moore has two other upcoming films, a thriller called The Woman In The Window opposite Amy Adams, and The Glorias, in which she will portray the feminist Gloria Steinem.
