'The only thing I tried was alcohol': Jessica Mauboy says she never gave in to the 'temptations' in the music industry such as 'drugs and sexuality'

Jessica Mauboy has been in the music industry for 13 years.

But the singer insists she has never given in to the temptations many pop stars face, like drugs.

The 30-year-old told The Daily Telegraph on Tuesday: 'I never went too deep, never did any drugs. The only thing was try alcohol. But there was never any of this going out to get hammered.'

Jessica added that there were moments she faced these temptations at home and overseas but never gave in.

She adds that she was given advice by her 'stern' sisters that she heeded in order not to be led astray.

'Having heard their experience in detail made me think 'thank you for sharing that, I'm not going to do that', whether it was drugs or alcohol or sexuality,' she said.

Appearing on Andrew Denton's Interview recently, Jessica broke down as she explained that she lost her love of music due to the pressures of fame.

She tearfully said: 'Oh, my God. It's so important to me. And I just kind of lost track of what music is and what it does.'

'There was a lot of noise. There was a lot of noise and a lot of doubt. Doubt had come back in and I lost the relationship for six years, with music.'

Andrew Denton asked: 'Is that partly because you became Jessica Mauboy Incorporated?'

She answered:  'I became this... 'You're famous.' I was on the road constantly, performing and thinking I need to go back home.'
