Jamie Laing will film Made In Chelsea and compete in Strictly Come Dancing at the same time

Fans of Jamie Laing might be concerned that his decision to join this year's Strictly Come Dancing line-up means he'll vanish from Made In Chelsea - the show that made him famous.

But MailOnline can reveal that won't be the case - and that the long-running cast member will remain a regular on the structured reality show alongside training for the annual dance show.

An MIC source confirmed that, as the latest 18th season prepares to launch next month, Jamie will indeed feature in it as one of the main stars, as has been the case since his first appearance in season two.

Jamie, 30, was embroiled in one of the main storylines in season 17, as his romance with friend Sophie 'Habbs' Habboo hotted up - leading to a lot of drama among the rest of the cast.

As the season ended two months ago, Habbs and Jamie were seen making the decision to give their relationship a shot, despite any upset it might cause for each of their exes.

Fans will be eager to learn how that panned out over the summer, with filming already underway for the newest season.

Jamie announced he will be taking part on Strictly during Monday's Loose Women, where he was immediately grilled about the prospect of the ominous so-called Strictly Curse.

But he didn't seem fazed, confirming that he and Habbs are dating but not official.

'Sophie and I are dating but we are not boyfriend/girlfriend. I haven’t told her. Surprise!' he said, adding: 'I’m not too worried about the curse. I’m sure nobody wants to kiss me.'

This whetted fans appetites even further regarding what to expect from MIC when it returns.

The reality star will take on the grueling Strictly training regime alongside filming duties for MIC.

MIC normally shoots its autumn season in the lead up to Christmas, wrapping at the end of November, and so this will overlap heavily with Strictly, should Jamie do well on the dancing series.

But there'll be no rest for the wicked as he juggles both shows - something many contestants are known to do, given their day jobs.

The likes of Dev Griffin, Emma Barton and Mike Bushell, for example, have radio shows to host, parts in EastEnders to play and BBC Breakfast to anchor, respectively.

'I am beyond thrilled to be asked to be on Strictly,' Jamie said on Loose Women. 'The only person potentially more thrilled is my mother. I have finally become the son she hoped for!'

Jamie joining Strictly means that the BBC are breaking their alleged ban on structured reality stars taking part.

Jamie had been rumoured for the dancing show previously, with a source telling The Sun earlier this summer: 'It is a surprising U-turn from the BBC and Strictly. They said previously that low-rent reality stars like Jamie would not be allowed on the show but things now seem to have changed.

'There’s only so many famous faces out there so clearly they have decided enough is enough and have had to retreat a bit in order to get enough celebs this year.'

Jamie is also the host of podcast Private Parts alongside fellow MIC star Francis Boulle. He has appeared on Celebrity Hunted, The Great British Bake Off and Famous and Fighting Crime.

As well as his media presence, Jamie is also a successful businessman, having founded the sweets brand Candy Kittens in 2012.

Jamie revealed he has known about taking part on the annual ballroom competition for 'about a month'.

Of his dancing ability, Jamie said: 'I think I’ve got a little bit of rhythm but I went to Leeds University and I studied theatre and performance for the first year and I had to do contemporary dance.'

Asked whether he signed on to Strictly immediately, he said: 'I spoke to a lot of people who had done it in the past and people said it's the scariest thing they’ve ever done.

'But you have to challenge yourself. I’ve turned down other reality shows. I just want to make my mum proud.'
