Dierks Bentley adopts an eight-week-old border collie mix live on the Today show after his performance
He was on the Today Show to perform hits including Living and I Hold On on the plaza outside NBC's New York City studio.
But Dierks Bentley left the set on Thursday with a whole lot more than a round of applause.
The country star, 43, adopted Goose, the cutest eight-week-old border collie mix from NYC-based Muddy Paws Rescue.

A number of rescue dogs happened to be on set in honor of the adopted dog birthday, 'DOGust 1st,' and Dierks was smitten by Goose.
'I’ve been texting back-and-forth with my wife and kids,' he said during a chat with Jenna Bush Hager and Willie Geist on Today With Hoda & Jenna.
'They really want a third dog. My wife for her birthday said, "All I want is a third dog.“ '

By the end of the four-hour show, Bentley was headed to his next tour stop in Buffalo, New York, with his new pooch.
'I feel a connection,' he said. 'I feel it’s meant to be. I’ll never forget this day. This is unbelievable.'
Dierks shares children Evie, 10, Jordan, eight, Knox, five, plus two dogs, Patch and Emmy, with Cassidy Black, his wife of 14 years.

But he admitted: 'They’ve been on me about a third dog for a while,' in a video Al Roker posted on Instagram.
Their eldest dog George died this year, preceded by another pup, Jake.
'I definitely feel attached to Goose and he’ll be well-loved,' Dierks continued, adding in his own Instagram video, 'I mean, how can you say no to that [face]?'
