Did Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth split over baby plans

Miley Cyrus announced on Saturday that she has separated from husband Liam Hemsworth, to 'focus on themselves and their careers'.    

And while the news has shocked fans, it hasn't always been smooth sailing for the pair who reportedly called it quits in July 2018 over when to start a family.

A source told OK! Australia at the time, that while Liam, 29, was eager to settle down and become a father, Miley, 26, wasn't ready.

'He wants kids and doesn't want to keep putting it off but it's not quite the timeline Miley had in mind... he is left heartbroken,' the source said at the time.

'Miley put off plans for the wedding and Liam was growing tired of it... They haven't been getting along in recent months.'   

The insider added: '[She] didn't really want to get married. It's something that everyone else seemed to get but Liam. [His] family had been begging him to see the light for a long time, but he had faith in Miley. Now he feels like an idiot.'   

At the time, the couple denied split rumours, with Liam posting a video to Instagram of the pair driving along together before he scared her with a funny prank.

In the clip, Liam was seen driving down the road with Miley filming the pair bopping along to music, before the actor suddenly screamed without warning.

On Friday, before news of her split from Liam broke, Miley was seen getting cosy with Brody Jenner's ex-wife Kaitlynn Carter, in Lake Como, Italy.

The Hannah Montana star appeared to be getting extremely hands-on with the blogger, 30, as they enjoyed a spot of sunbathing together.

A full statement on the couple's split was released on Saturday: 'Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time. Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what's best while they both focus on themselves and their careers.'
