After four years, it was high time the second generation Audi Q7 got an extensive makeover in order to remain relevant in its segment for a few more years.
As far as visual changes are concerned, Audi ticked all the boxes of a proper facelift, giving its full-size SUV new head- and taillights, grille and bumpers.
But while some automakers would have called it a day after perhaps updating the interior trim, Audi has gone the extra mile. In fact, inside is where they concentrated most of their efforts, upgrading the dashboard and fitting it no less than three screens, bringing the overall design in line with the rest of their range.

When it launches in September, it will be offered (depending on the market) with a diesel and a petrol engine, both 3.0 liters in displacement and featuring mild hybrid tech. The oil burner is available in 45 TDI and 50 TDI configurations with 228 and 282 HP, respectively, while the 55 TFSI gets 335 hp. In all three, the output is channeled to the Quattro all-wheel drive via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
With all the mechanical and technical revisions, is the 2020 Q7 a better contender to the likes of the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE? Well, it’s still no hardcore off-roader (and was never meant to be, actually), but it’s very spacious and comfortable, especially with the air suspension that will be standard in the UK, so the answer is yes.
