2021 Ford F-150: New Spy Shots Show Next-Gen Truck Wearing An All-Black Suit

Share it:

Ford is continuing the development of the next F-150 pickup truck, with test cars now spotted wearing an all-black camouflage instead of the previous white-black wrap.

Prototypes of the 2021 Ford F-150 are still fully covered from tip to toe, leaving just only a few tiny details exposed; things like a different front fascia, complete with new headlights, grille and bumper.

It’s still too early to pinpoint what is exactly going to change on the exterior of the Ford F-150 but it’s safe to expect that the car maker isn’t going to rewrite the rule books with the styling of its next-gen pickup truck.

The interior however is going to receive a healthy boost in terms of quality and gadgets; the F-150 has to significantly up its game in this department and is expected to do so by getting plusher materials and features like a generous touchscreen display with tons of connectivity options. A semi-autonomous driving system is also a given.

Big changes are also coming to the powertrain department, as Ford has already announced both hybrid and full-electric versions for the next-gen F-150, alongside the traditional ICE models. We assume that the full electric version will take a little longer to reach the market, with the plug-in hybrid most likely to be available from the get-go.

Speaking of which, Ford has already announced a plug-in hybrid 444hp (450PS) powertrain option for the Ford Explorer, which combined the 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 with an 100hp electric motor and a 10-speed automatic transmission. Sounds like this is probably the same one going into the next F-150, if you ask us.

The new Ford F-150 is expected to be revealed sometime next year as a 2021 model, and by then hopefully we’ll have some more new information to share.
