The Dodge Charger and Challenger SRT Hellcat models have proved exceptionally popular for the American car manufacturer and show no sign of relinquishing their stranglehold over the hearts and minds of muscle car enthusiasts.
Dodge introduced them back in 2014, but Abimelec Design thought it would be interesting to imagine what a Hellcat could have looked like if introduced way back in the late 1960s. The finished product is the 1969 Dodge Charger R/T Hellcat.
Eager to make a classic Charger fitting of the Hellcat name, the designer decided to fit the base car with a pair of huge superchargers, meaning the 426 cubic-inch Hemi V8 would produce a theoretical 575 hp. The current Charger and Challenger SRT Hellcat have 707 hp but a muscle car in 1969 with 575 horses would have been even more remarkable.

These renderings are so realistic that you could be excused for thinking they depict a car Dodge actually once built. The front end sports a black hood with a massive scoop which sucks air into the engine. In addition, the muscle car features black graphics at the rear as well as retro-inspired Hellcat logos.
Abimelec Design also went to the trouble of rendering the classic Charger R/T Hellcat in a number of different colors and even created a mock advertisement that lists it as the “fastest car ever” and quotes a quarter-mile time of 11.9 seconds at 124 mph (199 km/h).
While it would have been cool to see Dodge introduce such a version in the late 1960s, we’re confident that the popularity of the current Hellcats will ensure this bloodline remains alive, at least for the foreseeable future.
