While most associate Shark Week with shock-value footage of the aquatic predators, Nina posted a message about another facet of the annual TV event, which is to raise awareness around shark finning.
'YOU can help. You can do it from your phone. Help is one click away,' Dobrev posted alongside a video message about the illegal phenomenon, which entails sharks getting their fins cut off.
'Sharks face many threats, like over-fishing and the global shark fin trade,' Dobrev says in the video.
'This shark week, you can help protect our oceans.'
