85,000 people applied to be on Love Island this year, but a report has found that only 16% of the 36 Islanders were picked from the general application process.
According to The Mirror, a Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee report has revealed that 83 per cent were found by the programme's casting team or by professional agents, (although that leaves a margin of 1%).
The report read: 'On series 5 of Love Island to date (15 July), there have been 36 contributors.

'24 were found and cast by the programme's casting team, six were put forward by professional agents, and six came through the general application.'
A source who provides talent for the show told MailOnline: 'I'm always on the lookout for attractive people who might fit the bill for Love Island.'
They added that people who are chosen are quite often already quite well-known in the industry and some are established social media influencers.

This year's Love Island final had a peak audience of 3.8million, making it the most watched ever.
Amber Gill, 21, and Greg O'Shea, 24 won the show after dating for just two weeks on Monday night.
Tommy Fury. 20, and Molly-Mae Hague, 19, came second, despite being in a couple for much longer.

The final was the most watched programme in its slot across all channels, and achieved the biggest 16-34 audience of the night, with a strong 1.8million 16-34 TV viewers and an impressive 64% share of 16-34 viewing.
'After forty-two episodes, across four screen consolidated viewing this series of Love Island has averaged 5.7million viewers.
'This is up by 600k viewers year on year with the peak episodes breaking the 6 million viewers mark for consolidated four screen viewing.'
Moreover, Monday night's episode was the most watched Love Island episode of the month.
