Australian Ninja Warrior fans SLAM the show for its endless 'sob stories' - saying that producers should prioritise stars who 'actually finish the course'

Australian Ninja Warrior sees an eclectic group of competitors battling it out as they attempt to conquer a warrior-worthy obstacle course.

With the chance to win a cash prize of $300,000 and the title of 'Ninja Warrior Champion', competitors are pushed to their absolute limits.

But some viewers turned their backs on the show on Sunday night, saying they were unhappy with the amount of airtime given to the athletes' 'sob stories'.

Many fans' complaints centered around how producers devoted too much time to irrelevant backstories.

Several viewers expressed their frustration on Twitter, saying that the stars' athletic accomplishments were overshadowed by lengthy video packages.

'Why the big focus on Olivia Vivian? She gets a full interview while we miss three or run [runs] in an ad break,' one person tweeted.

Another added: 'I'm not going to say again @Channel9 and #NinjaWarriorAU stop not showing some pretty important people!

'Cut the backstory bit which we know and show more of the contestants or extend your show! We didn't get to see some really important runs.'

One of those unlucky Ninjas was Australian national gymnast Jordan Papandrea, who successfully completed the course during an ad break.

Nathan, who failed to complete the course, was favoured by producers because he hoped to propose to his girlfriend upon completion of the course.

One viewer said it was unfair to 'show the repetitive, boring sob stories' at the expense of athletes who actually completed the course.
